Week ending 06 January 2019

Notes

This was another great week on Haywards Farm Lake and the mild temperatures saw lots of hatching buzzers and plenty of surface activity. Small shuttlecocks and F-flies accounted for a few fish to those willing to try a dry fly, others stayed sub-surface with sink tips and intermediate lines coupled with mini lures and caught a lot of fish too.

Several bags were caught up in t doubles figures with the best bag topping 18 fish, including a double. Several of the doubles have shown themselves with fish up to 15lb landed and returned.

The crystal clear water has meant fish are pulling hard so please don’t go light on your tippet, especially since a good number of fish in the 4-9lb bracket have be landed with some anglers fighting fish for close on 15 minutes or more – so strap in for a tussle you won’t forget.

The boats have produced the biggest catches but the bank has produced some good numbers up to high single figures and keeping mobile remains the best plan of attack.

If you want to book a boat please do call us well ahead of your visit on 0118 930 3860 to avoid disappointment.
