Fishery Rules

For the well-being of both our fish and our anglers we do have a number of rules that we ask you to adhere to when fishing at the Sportfish Game Fishing Centre. If in any doubt please ask a member of the team.

All fish must be kept until bag limit is met, only then can catch and release begin. Anglers not adhering to this rule will be asked to leave the fishery.

Haywards Farm Lake

  1. All tickets must be purchased before you commence fishing.
  2. Tickets are non-transferable.
  3. All anglers must possess a valid EA rod licence.
  4. Fly fishing only.
  5. Up to two flies may be used at any one time.
  6. Minimum leader breaking strain 6lb.
  7. Anglers fishing catch and release must use a barbless (or crushed barb) hook and fish must not be removed from the water.
  8. All anglers must carry a landing net and priest.
  9. All anglers must complete a catch return, including nil returns, and post it in one of the boxes provided.
  10. Wading is permitted at your own risk, a lifejacket should be worn in water above knee height.
  11. The tuition platforms are out of bounds at all times.
  12. During unstaffed shop hours fishing is undertaken at the angler’s own risk.

Hobby Lake

  1. All of the above Haywards Farm Lake rules apply with the exception of the following:
  2. No catch and release fishing is permitted.
  3. The bag limit is four fish per angler, this can be pooled for the group.

Kingfisher Pond

  1. All of the above Haywards Farm Lake rules apply with the exception of the following:
  2. No catch and release fishing is permitted.
  3. All under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
