Fishing Report 13th January 2022

Notes

The new year started off in a similar vein of form as last year finished. A mixed bag of weather and some very cold nights certainly haven’t put the fish off in the slightest with some great bags coming to the anglers willing to venture out and have a go.
Despite the temperature, the fish have remained pretty high up in the water and floating lines and intermediates have been the go-to lines. The most successful pattern has been the black snake with several visitors having bags up to 8 fish on this fly. The usual suspects have also worked – humungous, blobs and cat’s whiskers have been catching well too. Nymphs have taken fish for those fishing them, but mini lures have produced the most fish overall. Steady retrieves have have been more effective than fast strips, but it’s a good idea to keep trying different things if takes start to dry up. Fish have been well spread out around the lake but the wind has played its part in concentrating fish in certain areas at times.
We are also happy to announce that we’re once again a Trout Masters water and entry forms will be available in the shop if you find something a little more special on the end of your line! Good luck and tight lines everyone!
