Fishing Report 7th February 2022

Notes

It was another busy week at the fishery and there’s a sense that anglers are starting to feel that spring is in the air. Warmer temperatures have seen fish moving higher up in the water and floating lines and sink tips have been the go-to lines.
On the windier days, switching to an intermediate to negate the pull of the ripple has worked better. Anglers have reported using relatively slow and steady retrieves to get the best results but it’s always worth mixing it up if you’re having no luck. Hot head damsels have worked for many along with the usual suspects like blobs and snakes. Another angler reported having success on dry fly again this week which is encouraging to hear.
There have been plenty of fish in the 4-8lb bracket landed and, once hooked, these fish really don’t give in! If you are fishing catch and release, please make sure you use strong leader and keep fish in the water as much as possible when releasing.
