Catch Returns

Week ending 9th July 2017

Notes

Excellent sport was had during the week in the cooler conditions on buzzers and diawl bachs. Unfortunately the hot, bright weather which arrived at the weekend made fishing much more challenging!  Catch and release has been re-instated due to the more clement weather we are experiencing this week and already 20 fish landed by one … Continue reading Week ending 9th July 2017 »

Week ending 2nd July 2017

Notes

Although the sun has been out the fishing has been surprisingly good this week!  Buzzers and Diawl Bachs fished under indicators, or fished very slowly near the aerators, has been a particularly successful technique for those anglers venturing out. Congratulations go to ten-year-old Luca Greenham who, while fishing with his father, managed to catch a … Continue reading Week ending 2nd July 2017 »

Week ending 25th June 2017

Notes

The hottest week of the year meant that anglers didn’t venture out in any number. The lake did manage to produce a lovely 7.5lb Rainbow for Simon Marshall and a very respectable rod average of just under 2 fish per angler was achieved. Lets hope the cooler weather and more favourable conditions we are now … Continue reading Week ending 25th June 2017 »

Week ending 18th June 2017

Notes

Phew….What a scorcher! The weather has been fantastic, but not really suited to fishing. Those brave enough to venture out have had some success however and the newly installed aerators have been working their magic. Six and seven fish tallies have been recorded on buzzers, shuttlecock buzzers and damsels. The damsel hatch is now well … Continue reading Week ending 18th June 2017 »

Week ending 11th June 2017

Week ending 4th June 2017

Notes

This week four fantastic double figure rainbow trout were caught, the best a buzzer-caught 14lb fish to Mitch Dow.  Double figure fish of 10lb, 10lb 4oz and 12lb were also landed.  Boat fishing has been very productive, especially for those fishing near the aerators fishing floating lines with buzzers and diawl bachs. Top class fly … Continue reading Week ending 4th June 2017 »

Week ending 28th May 2017

Notes

A mixed week saw some angler struggle more than others while some individuals caught at will. The boats once again have proven to be a big advantage with some catching in excess of 25 fish in a single day. This week has seen the first of the blue and golden trout landed and the most … Continue reading Week ending 28th May 2017 »

Week ending 21st May 2017

Notes

Some anglers have struggled from the bank particularly in the bright sunshine but those on the boats have had bags up into the 20s including a fabulous brown for regular John Combe which was safely returned. Floating lines have, at times, been swapped for intermediates but fish still haven’t been far down despite the less … Continue reading Week ending 21st May 2017 »

Week ending 14th May 2017

Notes

Damsels are hatching off in big numbers now and the fish are not only hitting the nymphs but also the adults as they fly around the lake. Buzzers have been huge, try patterns that are black with hot orange wing buds, this will closely match what we have seen when spooning fish. Olives have been … Continue reading Week ending 14th May 2017 »

Week ending 7th May 2017

Notes

A very busy week at the fishery in the lead up to the Reading Show and despite being closed on the Saturday and Sunday we had a fantastic week of catches with yet more double figure fish being caught, the best of which went 12lb 8oz and was safely returned to the lake. Still a … Continue reading Week ending 7th May 2017 »
