Challenging fishing conditions remain with the return of the warmer weather, but those persevering with small flies are rewarded with some cracking rainbows! Alan Wingate caught a lovely 8lb 1 oz rainbow on a static black buzzer fished near the aerators. With rain forecast next week fishing is set to improve.

Fishing small nymphs almost static and dries either on the surface or just in the surface film are the most effective methods of catching at the moment in relatively challenging conditions. As usual the boats are providing the best sport giving those people better access to the aerators and deeper cooler water.

Anglers at Hayward’s Farm faced challenging conditions this week with small imitative patterns being most effective fished on floating lines. Buzzers fished in the ripple or under small indicators being very effective. Boat anglers are seeing the best sport with access to the deeper cooler water.

More rain! However the water temperature is dropping nicely and the fishing is getting better and better with some good catches as a result.
