Lots of good fish have been caught this week, topped by the cracking 11lb 4oz rainbow below, that was netted by Ray Constable. There have been a lot of fish in the 5lb to 8lb range showing too, with most anglers getting among a few fish. As far as successful patterns are concerned there is … Continue reading Week ending 19th May 2019 »

This is not a full week‘s catch returns because the weekend of 11th and 12th May was our annual Sportfish Show and the lake was closed to fishing, except for show use. It got some great use during the course of the show too with Jeremy Wade showing that lure fishing will (mostly) always outfish … Continue reading Week ending 12th May 2019 »

The fish are currently up in the water and we are starting to see a few beginning to take dries but diawl bachs, cat‘s whiskers, buzzers and hot head damsels were the ‘go to‘ patterns for the week on Haywards Farm Lake with both bank and boat anglers catching fish up to 6lb. If you … Continue reading Week ending 5th May 2019 »

Catches were down a little this week, although Haywards Farm Lake continues to fish well, particularly to those fishers who know how to present a buzzer – the fish are on them big time – although this week it was red patterns taking the lion‘s share of the fish, rather than black. Apart from buzzers … Continue reading Week ending 28th April 2019 »

Hot, sunny conditions over the Easter weekend saw a lot of surface activity but brought a slow down in sport and boat anglers fared much better than those on the bank during the warm spell. Call us on 0118 930 3860 to book ahead if you want to get afloat. Buzzers remain the ‘go to‘ … Continue reading Week ending 21st April 2019 »

It has been another exceptional week here at the Sportfish Game Fishing Centre with plenty of good fish showing from both bank and boat. Boats have probably just edged the returns with black and red buzzers fished under an indicator and allowed to drift around on the breeze accounting for an awful lot of fish. … Continue reading Week ending 14th April 2019 »

It has been an incredible week on Haywards Farm Lake with a lot of fish caught, including some eight double figure specimens – all of which were returned. The result of the week went to Dean Reid who, fishing with a friend from one of the fishery boats, netted two estimated 20lb rainbows amongst the … Continue reading Week ending 7th April 2019 »

It has been another action–packed week here at the Sportfish Game Fishing Centre, with some stunning new arrivals too! As far as the fly life is concerned, buzzers have been coming off both lakes in their droves this week, and small black buzzers fished on floating lines have been working very well indeed. That said … Continue reading Week ending 31st March 2019 »

Spring is almost starting to feel like it is in the air, flies are hatching and fish are on the move. Flurries of buzzers have started to trickle off and late in the day plenty of fish have been showing on the surface. The fish on the whole have been up in the water and … Continue reading Week ending March 24th »

Another week of very windy weather has certainly made casting tricky on Haywards Farm Lake, but for those who persevered in the conditions have experienced some good fishing with a rod average of just under 4 fish per rod. Intermediate lines have been most successful cutting under the choppy water which allows the flies to … Continue reading Week ending 17th March 2019 »
